AS 9100 Aerospace Quality Management System

AS 9100 Aerospace Quality Management System

The aviation sector is the most meticulous in terms of security awareness. This sector, which constantly attracts the attention of the public and must have zero probability of error, has high quality expectations in all areas. However, an independent certification system was needed to ensure this commitment. This document not only provides security quality but also creates new business opportunities for businesses.

The AS 9100 standard is a Quality Management System standard and is completely based on the ISO 9001 Quality Management System. However, it contains definitions, criteria and additions specific to the space, aviation and defense sectors. AS 9100 was written by the aerospace industry to secure the structure of the aerospace industry manufacturers by improving quality. This standard is EN 9100 in Europe; It was published as AS 9100 in the USA and SJAC 9100 in the Far East.

In fact, this system is based on the tested and approved basic structure of ISO 9001, one of the most well-known management systems and has been completed with the specific requirements required by civil / military aviation and space studies. This structure, ISO 9001 quality management system of organizations that; it allows them to implement the AS 9100 standard without having to make major changes.

Technologies that serve many purposes such as communication, defense, astronomy and air traffic, including the design, delivery, orbit and transfer of useful information to the earth, are considered within the scope of space technologies. In addition, aviation technologies include the design and production of flying vehicles and the production of technologies for flying vehicles.

For example, passenger aircraft, warplanes, ammunition aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, air support vehicles and helicopters. On the other hand, space and aviation technologies, information technologies, electronic and communication technologies, land, sea, submarine and air platform technologies, strategic material technologies, propulsion, power and energy technologies, nontraditional systems, production technologies and nanotechnology, biotechnology, biomedical and health technology and air traffic systems technology.

Space and aerospace sector is the sector where R & D is the most and most effective. Many technologies used today have emerged as a by-product of R & D studies in the aerospace sector. Studies in this area are aimed at manned space flights to other planets in 2050 and detailed planetary investigations.

Currently, studies on space and aviation technologies are carried out in our country, albeit with very slow steps, but in general, this sector is dependent on foreign countries. Although it has not reached the desired level yet, thanks to the beginning of the 2000s and various state-side supports, the private sector in our country has started to invest in this field.

While aerospace and aviation technologies are developing in this way in the world and in our country, on the other hand, a number of studies have begun to provide a systematic of these activities. The first standard work in this direction, as mentioned above, is the AS 9100 Aerospace Industry Quality standard developed by the International Quality Group Aerospace Industry.
