AS 9100 is an international quality management system and was written by the aerospace industry to improve the quality and ensure the structure of aerospace manufacturers. This standard EN 9100 in Europe; AS 9100 in the United States and SJAC 9100 in the Far East.

Aviation and Space Sector The first implementations of the quality standard were initiated by the Automotive Engineers Association in the United States in 1999 and by the European Aerospace Industries in the European Union countries. The AS 9100 standard was later developed by the International Space and Aviation Quality Group. As can be seen from the standard clauses described above, it is based on the ISO 9001 Quality Management System standard.

However, the different demands required by civil and military aviation and space studies are included in the details of this standard. In addition, the AS 9100 standard was designed and the AS 9000 Space Based Quality System standard, prepared by the American Aerospace and Defense Division Quality Control Association, was taken into account.
