Compressor Periodic Inspection

Compressor Periodic Inspection

The compressors are used to compress atmospheric air or low pressure gas to produce high pressure air and gas. So how do the compressors work? The answer depends on the type of compressor. There are hundreds of different compressor types with a combination of different technologies.

Although there are hundreds of varieties, it can be said that there are basically two different compressor operating principles. Turbo compressors, which are classified as dynamic compressors, increase their energy by increasing the speed of gas molecules. With the fins of the turbo compressor, the gas molecules are pushed into a narrow channel. In the meantime, the gas whose velocity increases, opens up to a larger volume. In large volumes, speed decreases and pressure increases.

The other working principle of the compressor is to take the gas to a certain volume and to increase the gas pressure by narrowing the volume. Reciprocating and screw compressors, the two most common types on the market, operate according to this principle. In some types of compressors, air is compressed by reciprocating movement of the piston. In some compressor types, more cylinder pumps are used. There are also different types of compressors such as rotary vane compressors, centrifugal compressors, axial flow compressors, jet compressors, hydraulic compressors and gas and steam compressors.

The safer and more efficient operation of the enterprises depends on the availability of the work equipment at any time. The safe, trouble-free and long-term operation of these equipment depends on timely inspections and inspections. On the one hand, the competitive environment requires uninterrupted, fast and safe operations of the enterprises.

Of course, such equipment, where high volume pressure is increased or decreased, is dangerous in case of uncontrolled use and misuse. These equipment, some of them capable of creating a bomb effect, can become extremely dangerous for workplace safety. For this reason, the Annex to the Regulation on Health and Safety in the Use of Work Equipment issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, adopted the Annex 3 Maintenance, Repair and Periodic Inspection Annexes, in the group of compressed air tanks. The regulation includes portable or stationary compressor air tanks and all kinds of containers operating with compressed air and their fixed equipment to the group of compressed air tanks.

If no other period is stipulated in the standards, the compressors should be periodically checked and inspected at least once a year. It is also imperative that these inspections be carried out by mechanical engineers, machine technicians or high technicians.

According to the regulation, the hydrostatic pressure test at each stage of the compressive compressors is carried out with 1,5 times the maximum permissible pressure of the compressed air tanks and their fixed equipment at that stage.
