Double Girder Overhead Crane Periodic Inspection

Double Girder Overhead Crane Periodic Inspection

Cranes, which are highly functional, are machines used especially in loading and unloading when manpower is unable to cope. If required, standard cranes can be used in many places with 360 degree rotating, moving up and down easily, carrying capacities up to 60 tons and structures extending up to 40 meters.

Cranes for moving heavy loads by moving in various directions are used in factories, factories, workshops, open and closed areas and multi-storey construction areas. There are a wide variety of cranes designed to suit their intended use, such as monorail cranes, fixed cranes, single girder cranes, double girder cranes, low overhead cranes, jib cranes and overhead cranes. One of these is double girder overhead cranes.

Lifting capacities up to 40 tons are particularly suitable for heavy-duty machines. The lifting of the load is achieved by wire ropes passing over the reels. The mechanical efficiency of the crane is increased by increasing the number of pulleys. Large movable cranes, which are often encountered in large construction sites, are a further development of simple arm cranes. They are placed on a rail and moved in the construction site. In large workshops where heavy loads need to be transported, gantry cranes are also used.

Double girder overhead cranes traveling on crane tracks have higher lifting capability than single girder cranes. However, in order to achieve this, the main girders are lower than the single girder overhead cranes.

Double girder overhead cranes are also included in the lifting and transmission vehicles group of Annex 3 Maintenance, Repair and Periodic Inspections of the Regulation on Health and Safety in the Use of Work Equipment issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

Double girder overhead cranes must be capable of effectively and safely lifting at least the 1,25 floor of the declared load and thus holding it in the air. Again double girder overhead cranes must have these load-resistant load brakes. Periodic checks to be carried out must be carried out by mechanical engineers, machine technicians or high technicians and in double girder overhead cranes the first points of consideration should be the features described previously.

If inspection and control operations are to be carried out by non-destructive testing methods, these checks should only be carried out by engineers, technicians or technicians trained in accordance with the TS EN 473 standard.
EN TS EN 473 Non-Destructive Testing, Qualification and Certification of Non-Destructive Testing Personnel, General Rules ”standard was issued by the Turkish Standards Institute in 2010. It has been published.

These cranes, which may be dangerous during their use, must be inspected at least once a year unless a different period is specified in the relevant standards according to the Regulation on Health and Safety in the Use of Work Equipment. In the same regulation, the standards to be taken into consideration during these controls are also counted.
