Car lifts are often used in car services and auto repairers, that is, industries. Vehicle lifts can lift even 3 tonnes or more based on weights. The safety of these lifting machines is very important. It may cause death in any failure. For this reason, it is very important to periodically check these lifts.

The Regulation on Health and Safety in the Use of Work Equipment issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security on the basis of the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331 entered into force in the year 2013. These regulations establish minimum health and safety requirements for the use of work equipment in the workplace. The Regulation describes the period in which these vehicles will be controlled according to the types of machines used in the workplaces and which criteria and standards shall be performed in accordance with these periodical controls.

Generally used in the maintenance of automobiles and light and medium heavy commercial vehicles, vehicle lifts are generally two or four-column. They are generally used by auto workshops and services. Vehicle lifts, which are produced with the aim of increasing work productivity, have a wide range of light, medium and medium heavy commercial vehicles and all motor vehicles according to their lifting capacity.

Vehicle lifts, which are classified as lifting and transmitting equipment, ensure that the vehicle is lifted to an ergonomic height for general inspections, inspection of the brakes, replacement of muffler, and similar operations on the underside of vehicles requiring maintenance and repair. The use of these vehicles is also risky because the load they carry is heavy and risky.

While inspections are carried out by accredited inspection and test institutions, the steel ropes, chains, hooks, slings, pulleys, brakes and automatic stops of the vehicle lifts are always reviewed. Function tests and load lifting tests are also carried out under no load and load condition. When the inspection process is finished, a report is prepared and delivered to the operation by the test and inspection organization indicating that the lift is working safely and there is no problem in using it.

This report, which shows that the hoist lift is working safely and that there is no problem in its use, is accepted as valid in the inspections carried out by the auditors of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. Vehicle lifts must be inspected at least once a year in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, unless otherwise stipulated in the relevant standards. According to the law, employers are responsible if an unexpected accident occurs.
