Pallet Truck Periodic Inspection

Pallet Truck Periodic Inspection

Pallet trucks in the group of lifting and transmitting equipment is a widely used equipment for transporting a load to the desired place on the wheel by means of hydraulic system by using battery or manpower. There are two metal forks in front of them, which are similar to forklifts, and they are placed in the gaps in the pallet.

Special scissor pallet truck, short pallet truck and long pallet truck can be found for different jobs. Pallet trucks are for carrying loads and should not be used for live transport and sudden turns should be avoided when there is a load on it. Loading should be done in line with its capacity and the center of gravity of the loaded material and the pallet should be aligned. Otherwise, the load may tip over and be damaged.

Pallet trucks carrying heavy loads may threaten the life and property safety of employees in case of incorrect and uncontrolled use. The pallet trucks used should therefore be checked periodically. Unless a different period is stipulated in the legal regulations, periodic checks and examinations of the pallet trucks are required at least once a year.

Pallet trucks should be inspected and inspected by authorized persons such as mechanical engineers, machine technicians or high technicians. Otherwise, the inspection and report prepared will be deemed invalid.

Reports issued by authorized persons who are experts in their fields are also deemed valid in audits to be carried out by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. However, the examinations and controls to be made and the reports to be prepared other than those listed are not considered valid.

During the inspection and inspection procedures, it is checked whether the pallet trucks are capable of safely lifting and suspending at least 1,25 of the declared load, unless otherwise specified in these standards. In addition, it is checked whether the pallet trucks are resistant to this load and have sufficient power brakes.

If the pallet truck used has an inspection report before, those reports are examined first. If it is observed that the faults and errors that have been reacted in the previous period have not been remedied, they are expected to be corrected first. The pallet trucks are then visually inspected. Mechanical and functional controls are performed. It is checked whether they perform the expected functions with or without load.
