According to the February 2017 report published by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) and the FIBL Research Institute, 2.4 million producers in the world are engaged in organic farming in the area of ​​50.9 million hectares. The number of producers engaged in organic farming showed an increase of 2014 by 2015 - 7 only. On the other hand, organic farming areas increased by 15% in the last 356 year and reached 14.9 million hectares.

If we recall that the global organic food and beverage market in 2000 was 18 billion dollars, it is seen that 15 increased to 240 billion dollars with an increase of 81.6% per year. These figures show that production and sales of organic agricultural products are rapidly increasing along with the change in consumer awareness and expectations all over the world.

The areas where organic agriculture is produced in the world constitute 1% of the total agricultural areas. At the top of the countries with the highest organic farmland is Australia with 22.7 million hectares (45% of total organic areas). It is followed by Argentina with 3.1 million hectares and the United States with 2 million hectares, Spain with 2 million hectares and China with 1.6 million hectares.
Liechtenstein is the country with the highest share of organic agriculture in the total agricultural land owned by 30.2. It is followed by Argentina with 21.3 percent and Sweden with 16.9 percent.

According to the data of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock in the year 2016, 67 thousand 878 producers in our country are engaged in organic farming with 523 varieties of crops on a total area of ​​777 thousand 238 hectares. 29 thousand 199 hectares of this area are collected from nature.
70 is the largest producer of organic agriculture, with about 8 thousand producers working in this field. country. According to 2015 data, we have a market income of 62 million euros in organic products.
When we look at the prominent regions of organic agriculture in our country, Eastern Anatolia takes the first place with 57 share. This region is followed by Aegean Region with 23.7% and Southeastern Anatolia region with 6,4%.
In terms of the number of farmers, Aegean is in the first place with 32.2%. This region is followed by Eastern Anatolia with 30.3% and Black Sea with 25.1%.

The production of organic farming is not possible only through the efforts of people and various national and international organizations. The state should also be supportive in this regard. To this end, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock has issued the Law on Organic Agriculture and the Regulation on the Principles and Application of Organic Agriculture. The purpose of these regulations is to provide the consumers with reliable and quality products to protect the ecological balance, conducting organic agricultural activities, organic agricultural production and marketing regulation, development and dissemination is to determine the principles and procedures. These regulations also include the principles for auditing and certification of organic farming activities.

According to the data obtained in 2006, the total area size of certified organic agricultural production in the whole world is close to 32 million hectares. The total number of certified farmers is close to one thousand.
