Organic farming

Migration to the city and changes in consumption habits of high income groups changed food habits. The fact that food and consumption habits change so fast has caused food to take a risky position. The person who is the producer or the producer of the food he consumes in the countryside has started to reach thousands of products that are offered to him in modern ways with urbanization, regardless of the season.

This has led to the necessity of ensuring the systematic reliability of food and maintaining it through continuous monitoring and supervision. In the demand-dependent supply system, the line extending from food security to food reliability, from energy to industrial input, from conservation of gene diversity to sustainability necessitates the management of every point in the process from agricultural input to consumption.

Organic agriculture refers to a production system that preserves the balance in nature, ensures continuity in soil fertility, ensures the continuity of living things in nature by controlling diseases and pests, and obtains optimum efficiency with optimum use of natural resources and energy. Organic agriculture emerges as an approach that integrates human, environmental and economically sustainable agricultural production system.

The products obtained in this way are also called organic products. According to another definition, organic agriculture is a mode of production that encompasses the biological movement, biological transformation and biological diversity of the soil, enhancing and enriching the agricultural ecosystem health.

However, over time, organic farming has ceased to be an alternative method and has become a philosophy of life. As the world population increases, so does the need for nutrition. The increase in the demand for agricultural products increases the demand for consumption. As such, it was necessary to expand agricultural land or to buy more crops from agricultural land to meet demand.

Nowadays certification of agricultural products; It has gained great importance in terms of meeting the ever-changing consumer demands and expectations and providing the related parties with product confidence. The ultimate purpose of the certification is to reassure all interested parties that a product meets the specified requirements.

European Union countries have half of the world organic food market and is also the world's largest importer. Naturally, the member countries are preferred primarily for importation. However, in case the standards determined in the regulation are provided, organic agricultural products are imported from third countries. Today, the countries that export to European Union countries without any problems are Australia, Hungary, Argentina, Israel and Switzerland.

Certification within the scope of agricultural products certification programs such as organic agriculture and İTU are carried out within the scope of conformity assessment activities. Organizations accredited by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock (TURKAK) are accredited by the AK ISO 17065: 2012 Conformity Assessment - Requirements for Organizations Performing Product, Process and Service Certification ”certification.

Although accreditation is a prerequisite within the scope of each certification program, conditions are defined for the accreditation process of the organizations authorized under the relevant regulation of each program. The main criteria in the accreditation process are the requirements of the ISO 17065: 2012 standard and the regulations for the relevant certification program. In addition, accreditation is carried out by taking into account the scope of the product certification bodies in the areas they operate in accordance with the Reh Guidelines for Good Agricultural Practices, Organic Agriculture and GLOBALG.AP Certification Audits to be Witnessed by R50.07 TÜRKAK TÜRK published by TÜRKAK.
