Good Agricultural Practices

How to Buy Good Agricultural Practices

In order to obtain a Good Agricultural Practices Certificate, manufacturers have to comply with certain criteria and certain tasks they have to do. It is not possible to request documents from a certification body without complying with them.

Consumers want to ensure the safety of all the food crops they buy, with the direct agricultural crops they consume. With this awareness, in order to provide consumers with the assurance that both direct agricultural crops and processed crops are obtained with care, the necessity of establishing certain methods and standards has become inevitable. Good agriculture, chemical fertilizer, GMO, chemical pesticides, chemical fertilizers, synthetic hormone activity does not set an additional measure or limit, aims to record only the farmer and the farmer's actions.

Good farming practices should be the lowest standard our farmer must comply with. The state's agricultural activities are the minimum standard required to keep the register of farmers by implementing this regulation and to document the agricultural inputs it applies. Otherwise, we cannot find out who produced the product and which medicines were used.

First of all, it is very important to keep a record of every stage of agricultural production, every activity performed and every work performed. The production process must be recorded from beginning to end. This requirement is the result of the system's traceability principle. All inputs purchased or used, transactions made, training received, all details should be recorded, and these records should be kept regularly and carefully. Even the production history of production areas should be recorded.
Soil analyzes should be carried out at least once a year so that fertilization can be done at the appropriate time and amount. Fertilizer type should be determined according to the soil type and the amount of fertilizer should be determined accordingly.

Organizations wishing to start good agricultural practice must first apply to a certification body with the authority to audit and certify Good Agricultural Practices. The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock makes this authorization. In this way, the production process will be recorded.

After the start of production activities, the soil should be processed and the techniques to protect the physical structure of the soil and to prevent soil loss should be used. In order to use fertilizers at the appropriate time and amount, soil analyzes should be done once a year. Pesticide use and fertilization processes are completely dependent on soil structure.

Disease and pest control should be followed in accordance with the Integrated Control Technical Instructions. First, natural methods should be used and chemical control should be used as a last resort. In this context, organizations that meet and apply the mentioned criteria are entitled to receive Good Agricultural Practices certificate.
