The first stage audit is carried out by the audit team in order to determine the compliance of ISO / TS 16949 system documents and key performance indicators. As a result of this audit, the auditor decides whether the organization is ready for the second stage audit. If the organization is ready, a suitable date for the second stage is determined with the auditor. This date depends on the preparedness of the organization's system. If the system is completely ready, the second stage can be passed immediately. If there are preparations that need to be completed, it is taken to a later day, this date should not exceed 1 days from the day of the Stage 90 audit.

The certification audit is carried out by the audit team to determine the compliance of the organization's quality management system with the ISO 16949 standard. Then, based on the automotive process approach, all processes that the organization wants to be certified will be examined.

If your system conforms to the standard as a result of certification audit, your organization will be entitled to receive ISO 16949 certificate. 

Before ISO TS 16949 Automotive Quality Management System is established in the company, it is useful to obtain a copy of the standard. In the meantime, it is useful to benefit from publications that support the understanding, implementation and documentation of a quality management system.
A team should then be set up to establish the system and a roadmap to be followed. Meanwhile, senior management support must be provided. A training program should be organized to inform all employees including the senior management about the system requirements.
