ISO 28001 Supply Chain Security Management System

ISO 28001 Supply Chain Security Management System

The concept of supply chain; is the set of relationships and connections that enable your product to move between suppliers, manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers and ultimately consumers. It covers all successive rings from the procurement stage of goods and services to production and delivery to the final consumer. In terms of business processes, supply chain; sales process, production, inventory management, material supply, distribution, procurement, sales forecasting and customer service.

The supply chain, which is closely related to all working processes of the enterprises, is the process of all products and services from the supplier to the customer at the last stage; all the activities taking place in this way can be explained as the name of the concept covering human resources, technology, company structures and resources.

ISO 28001 Supply Chain Security Management System describes the requirements of the supply chain security management system and provides a management model to organizations wishing to establish and implement this system. But it also integrates easily with ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System, ISO 27001 Information Security Management System and similar management systems and enables effective management of supply chain risks.

All companies, which you may notice in which sector, are actually customers of one another. That is essentially what constitutes the supply chain. Although the ISO 9001 Quality Management System has established the necessary standards and assessment methods for relations with suppliers, the International Standards Organization (ISO) has published ISO 2007 Supply Chain Safety Management System standards in 28001, especially on the supply chain management system.

ISO 28001 Supply Chain Security Management System standards have many common clauses with the ISO 9001 Quality Management System. Both systems can be installed integrated with each other. However, the ISO 28001 Supply Chain Security Management System standard is a standard that can be established and implemented alone in an organization. In other words, in order to have the ISO 28001 certificate, it is not required for the organization to also have the ISO 9001 Quality Management System certificate.

Regarding this standard, the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TURKAK) has not accredited any certification body for this certification. Therefore, certification bodies accredited by the Turkish Accreditation Agency for other management systems may prepare ISO 28001 Supply Chain Security Management System Certificate without accreditation for the organizations they deem appropriate as a result of their audit. There is no ISO 28001 certificate with TURKAK logo.

In recent years, organizations that attach importance to this system have realized that if the risks in the supply chain are correctly identified and managed effectively, they will gain great gain in terms of business continuity. In times of financial crisis, the consequences of not delivering the supplied product in a timely and correct manner are enormous. It is important for the continuity of the companies to determine the risks that cause this situation and to take the necessary measures. Here is the Supply Chain Security Management System, published in order to manage possible security risks and to ensure supply continuity in today's volatile environment.
