GLOBALGAP

How to Buy GLOBALGAP

In small scale enterprises producing with traditional methods and techniques, the spread of Good Agricultural Practices system will be possible only with the establishment of producer unions or cooperatives.
Fruit and vegetable production and exports of our country will gain momentum as soon as progress is made in Good Agricultural Practices. This is an important point not only in terms of financial gain, but also in terms of healthy and safe agricultural products. Otherwise, this delay will create competition problems both for the European Union and world agriculture.

GLOBALGAP 1997 is an initiative that European big retailer supermarkets put together and put into practice to ensure that the agricultural products they put on their shelves are safe and not harmful to human health. Today it has become a global standard that is valid all over the world. 70-80% of major European retailers and manufacturers are currently registered or registered with GLOBALGAP.

The GLOBALGAP Certificate applies to both individual farmers and producer / farmer groups (eg cooperatives, large exporters, packaging houses, etc.); Producer and Farmer groups are also required to fulfill the elements of the Quality Management System documents and to be able to manage the connections between producers.

What is the certification process?

First of all, an evaluation study is required. The state of water resources, the condition of the soil to be sown, the production conditions of neighboring lands, and the pesticides that will be needed are determined.

An agreement is then made with a certification body. In the meantime, the manufacturer prepares water quality and soil analysis reports, a list of previously received products and similar documents. If group certification is to be carried out, a preliminary assessment is carried out by the certification body in terms of eligibility criteria for Good Agricultural Practices. Also the quality management system requirements are sought.

The certification body visits production sites and prepares a contract based on information such as number of employees, area size and number of products.
If the manufacturer or producer association accepts the offer, the contract is signed.

The certification body controls all inputs used by the manufacturer, including the quantity and characteristics of the pharmaceutical and fertilizer used, the characteristics of the seeds and seedlings, the recorded date and content of all production activities.

The certification body determines the competent laboratory for residue analysis of water, soil, leaves and the like and takes product samples and sends them for analysis.
If the analysis results and audit results are appropriate, the GLOBALGAP Document is issued and delivered.
