GLOBALGAP Certification Process

The GLOBALG.AP standard is primarily designed to alleviate consumers' concerns about how nutrients are produced on the farm, reducing the use of chemical inputs and taking a responsible approach to human and animal health and safety, minimizing the environmental impact of farm work.

Globalgap audit aims to establish a benchmarking system between manufacturers, suppliers and retailers. Globalgap benchmarking is done at 2 level. Comparisons can be made with equivalent schemes and Notified Body checklist.

GLOBALG.AP is a private sector organization that sets voluntary standards for certification of agricultural and aquaculture worldwide. Good Agricultural Practices certification studies and GLOBALGAP certification studies can be carried out in parallel. The producer organization or association may therefore apply for either of these types of certification or for both. GLOBALGAP Certificate is a certificate that the producers want to do business in international markets. This document is required as a prerequisite for exporting companies that send fresh fruit and vegetables to the European Union countries. On the other hand, Good Agricultural Practices Certificate is a document that organizations want to take part in domestic markets.

Audit activities are carried out by certification bodies in accordance with GLOBALGAP Control Points and Compliance Criteria. In these studies, the determined control points are inspected and the compliance level of the manufacturer is determined. If the producer organization or association is found to have reached an adequate level of eligibility, the producer organization or association is entitled to receive a GLOBALGAP Certificate.

However, if it is determined that they are not at an adequate level of conformity, then the producer requesting a certificate shall be given a period not exceeding four weeks in order to eliminate the nonconformities detected and the nonconformities are expected to be eliminated within this period.

If there is no obstacle for the issuance of the GLOBALGAP Certificate, the certificate is issued and delivered to the producer organization or association. The validity period of GLOBALGAP Certificate is one year. At the end of this period, re-inspection works should be carried out and the GLOBALGAP Certificate should be issued again.
