Electrical Safety Tests

Electrical Safety Tests

Even the slightest negligence can limit the safety of life and property when it comes to electricity. When it is mentioned about electrical safety, it is essential to take precautions by foreseeing the damages caused by the elements such as current and voltage that may endanger life safety, especially electrical leakages.

Electrical devices used in all kinds of buildings and workplaces should not be used without checking. Problems may arise due to production-related problems and events such as deformation in devices. For this reason, their production must be inspected, measured, tested and possible risks must be prevented.

Essentially, devices that test whether electrical devices are safe and suitable for use are called electrical safety testers, and the presence and use of such devices in production facilities is important to ensure occupational safety.

In addition, electrical safety tests can be performed independently. First of all, authorized and accredited organizations should be preferred for these tests. Electrical safety tests are carried out in the laboratories of the organizations. Tests such as EMC test, LVD test, grounding tests, insulation test, surface tension test, cable voltage test, heating test and leakage current test are performed on electrical safety.

In addition to the above-mentioned tests, the insulation resistance test at operating temperature, the insulation resistance test at ambient temperature, the long-term withstand voltage test of the DC voltage, the high-voltage test, the electrical resistance test, the input power and current test, the moisture resistance test, the lightning impact test, the puncture voltage test , unusual working test, discharge test, surface leakage protection test and more tens of electrical tests are performed.

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) aims to operate any device, system or installation without being affected by and affecting other systems or devices and determines the basic protection conditions required for this purpose. There are two basic protection conditions that devices, systems and installations are required to comply with. The electromagnetic disturbance caused by the device, system or installation should not exceed the level that prevents the operation of radio and telecommunication devices or other devices / systems from being affected or their performance, and the device, system or installation should be able to function properly without being affected by the expected electromagnetic disturbances during its use. .

Electrical equipment designed for use at rated voltages ranging from 50 Volts to 1000 Volts and for direct current ranging from 75 Volts to 1500 Volts falls within the field of the LVD directive, where LVD testing is required.

Legislation prohibits or limits the use of certain hazardous and hazardous elements and chemicals in electrical and electronic equipment for human health and environmental conditions. These substances are detected by RoHS tests.

RoHS tests include heavy metals such as mercury, lead and chromium that threaten human health. With the latest regulations, the devices covered by these tests have been greatly expanded and accordingly large household appliances, small household appliances, computer technologies and telecommunication devices, consumer products, lighting devices including bulbs and chandeliers, electrical and electronic devices, toys, entertainment and sports equipment, medical devices. , monitoring and control instruments, automatic dispensers and other electrical and electronic equipment that do not fall within these groups are covered by RoHS tests.

IP tests are performed to measure the resistance of mechanical or electrical devices to water, dust or external impacts. In this class, tests such as resistance to solid objects, protection against object size, resistance to liquids, protection against access to dangerous parts, and mechanical impact resistance are prepared according to the results.
