ECOmark Ecological Product Certificate (EKO Label)

What are the basic principles of ECOmark

Today, the world's leading organization in ecological farming activities, shortly known as IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements). It is an organization that sets the rules and conditions for ecological production all over the world. Ecological farming principles have been updated and published in 1998 as IFOAM basic standards. IFOAM also works closely with international organizations such as the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as well as with the European Union. The main feature of IFOAM standards is to provide a framework for control and certification bodies, standards-setting bodies and legislators in countries.
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has also been involved in a number of studies on food safety and ecological agriculture research. It has also established the Food Labeling Committee within the Codex Alimentarius, together with the World Health Organization (WHO), and sets standards for ecologically produced and labeled foodstuffs.
The ECOmark standard is a standard based on these studies and developed entirely by SCIENCE Technical Control and Certification Inc., aiming to prevent damage to the ecological balance of the environment, but at the same time creating an opportunity for people to eat healthy. SCIENCE also continues its ECOmark certification studies.
While designing this standard, SCIENCE aimed to protect the natural resources of the earth and to create a sustainable consumption understanding in people. The environment is now irreparably polluted and it is the responsibility of all organizations and people to prevent this.
The basic principles of ECOmark can be listed as follows:
Enterprises and production facilities must understand and adopt a sustainable production approach. All environmental protection measures comply with the ECOmark standard.
The criteria and conditions of the ECOmark standard are preventive rather than restorative. The main thing is to prevent problems before they occur.
In terms of environmental policies announced by public or private organizations, even if it is not known whether the results of any activity will have a negative impact on the environment, even if this concern has not yet been scientifically proven, action must be taken for such activities.
People should be educated and conscious about the protection of the environment and human health.
