The BRC standard (British Retail Consortium) was first developed by the British supermarket chain association. The BRC Food Standard was developed by retailers, food industry experts and related organizations. In the standard 1998 was released with the first version and currently 7. version is valid. The framework of the standard establishes how food safety, integrity, legality and quality should be managed in food and food input producing, processing and packaging industries.
