BRC Food Food Safety System

BRC Food Food Safety System Certification Process

Companies producing unprocessed meat and fish products, companies producing milk, eggs or similar daily foods, companies that produce frozen ready-to-eat food, manufacturers of packaged food products and other food products that are resistant to environmental conditions, are much more eye-catching than before. On the one hand, non-governmental organizations, on the other hand, these firms, which are kept under control by official authorities, are taking more serious importance in this sector which is directly related to human health.
British retailers set out the British Retailing Consortium Standard in 1998 (BRC, British Retail Consortium Standard) to ensure food safety and improve product quality. This standard, published as BRC, Global Standard - Food, encompassed food products primarily produced in the UK or produced abroad and sent to the UK. Then it became an international standard.
BRC Food must be installed and managed in the company before proceeding to the Food Safety System certification studies. Although this system is installed, standards are not followed during production, if the system requirements are not fulfilled, that company is not likely to receive a certificate.
In order to obtain the BRC Food, Food Safety System Certificate, the companies listed above must first make an agreement with a certification body. Then the audit works to be carried out by the certification body begin. These studies have two stages. The certification body first performs a preliminary study on the documentation to be opened by the company. These documents are all documents prepared during the installation of the system, business processes, application instructions and the like.
If the certification body detects a defect or error during this preliminary work, it requests the company to correct it. Afterwards, field works are started at the company's facilities. The audits to be performed are to see on the job how much the standards of the system are complied with. After the completion of this study, if it is decided that the company deserves to receive BRC Food, Food Safety System Certificate, the certificate is issued.
