FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System

What is FSSC 22000?

Increased security in international trade and in parallel to this, the protection of the people against the dangers in food has come to the agenda. These agendas raised food-borne concerns in the process.

Based on ISO 22000 and HACCP international standards, FSSC 22000 is a food safety certification system for food manufacturers that helps you identify and control food safety risks. This standard confirms your food safety systems, demonstrating that your customers have strict food safety processes and that your commitments to hygiene and human health are met.

FSSC 22000 is approved by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) as a standard and is accepted by major food retailers in Europe. It identifies what you need to do as a food manufacturer to show that you are in control of standard food safety hazards and that you can ensure food safety.

The FSSC 22000 is a globally recognized standard for auditing, monitoring and certification of all foodstuffs in order to ensure food safety. The combination of ISO 22000 and PAS 220 standards, the FSSC 22000 standard, is based on the ISO 22000: 2005 standard and PAS 220: 2008 standards.

The purpose of this certification is to harmonize certification requirements and methods for food safety systems in the food chain and to provide a comparable reliable food safety certificate in terms of relevant content and scope. FSSC 22000 is a published standard for food production organizations, consisting of a combination of the ISO 22000 standard and the PAS 220 specification.

This standard enables food manufacturers to identify potential hazards that could compromise food safety, identify critical control points, and thus eliminate or at least mitigate risks.

The FSSC 22000 standard allows the control of different production stages such as preparation, production, packaging and distribution of foodstuffs separately. FSSC 22000 system has been a new management system that covers the deficits of the system since the ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System, which was previously implemented, does not meet the prerequisite programs in food safety.

Meanwhile, the FSSC 22000 standard (Food Safety System Certification) has become one of the few standards recognized by the GFIS (Global Food Safety Initiative).
